The Dover Church – Sanctuary Renovation

This circa 1839 Greek Revival structure was built as the third version of a church on “Meeting House Hill,” serving the congregation that was initially founded in 1762. The intent of the renovation was to improve interior finishes, lighting and acoustics. When the church committee charged with the renovation began consulting various tradesmen, they discovered that an architect was needed to coordinate design work and address structural issues related to the steeple and attic. Mills Whitaker Architects was retained to develop a comprehensive approach to structural repairs, plaster restoration and interior preservation. The completed project was dedicated as a culmination of the church’s 250th anniversary celebration.
