Private Residence Norway, Maine

This residential camp, situated adjacent to a cove on the shoreline of beautiful Lake Pennessewassee, consists of a house, cottage and barn. Mills Whitaker Architects was retained to develop plans for renovation and restoration of the buildings and the site. The project involved complete renovation of the house, reconstruction of the cottage and modifications to the barn. Former additions to the house were altered, new additions were provided and the interior and exterior were fully renovated. The smaller cottage was rebuilt as an energy-efficient full season guesthouse while the barn was renovated for use as a garage, workshop and seasonal storage. Landscaping, parking, septic system, patios, decks and emergency power systems were also provided. The resultant project retains its original character while meeting the needs of the 21st century.
