Year of Completion: current project.

The Paul Revere Memorial Association is the steward of the Paul Revere House, circa 1680, and the Pierce/Hichborn House, circa 1711.  The Revere House is well known for its association with the famous patriot, silversmith, and mid-night riding herald.  Less well known is the Pierce/Hichborn House, one of the earliest remaining brick buildings in Boston.  The Association serves approximately 250,000 visitors a year who tour the museum’s historic properties and participate in its various programs. The Association recently purchased an 1835 tenement building immediately adjacent to the museum’s courtyard.  This building is sandwiched between surrounding buildings and is one of the last wood-framed duplexes of its kind.  Mills Whitaker Architects was retained to assist with its adaptive reuse along with subsequent work on the other historic properties.  The facility will be used for program space, meeting rooms, offices and a gift shop.  The original character of the duplex will be restored while integrating code upgrades, accessibility provisions and programmatic requirements.  When renovations are complete, the Association will exhibit residential buildings representing three centuries of development in the Historic North End.
